Not the best Labor Day weekend I have ever had but on Thursday I broke out with these itchy bumps/pimples that pop up in random places starting on my right foot. Little devils know where to pop up on your foot where maximum abrasion would be from socks and shoes which limits how much I can walk.
Called my dermatologist on Friday and of course all doctors out on vacation. Only thing that works is a dose of that high powered steroid medication which the nurses could not do. Got appointment for tomorrow...Tuesday.
So Saturday the crud wasn't spreading anymore and was feeling better so had one Coors Light beer while watching the afternoon football games.
10 minutes later started to break out on my left side and that made for an itchy night with Benadryl doing what it could. The tube of steroid ointment they had prescribed helps a little bit but not much.
No beer now as it seems to cause the issue. Had an attack like this a few years back and don't want anymore of this crap.

Perhaps some medicinal whiskey, taken orally, might have had a different result? You never know.

I read where as you get older the enzime that helps break down alcohol can deminish in some people causing an alcohol allergy or it could be due to the hopps used. Either way I don't feel like doing expierements.

You can get into see a Dermatologist that quickly? I made an appointment to see one around a month ago, I will be able to see him in December.

I'm not sure what I would do if I became allergic to alcohol.

Allergy here too. I get gout shortly after consuming beer. So no more beer. Some wine and Vodka don't affect me that way.

From what little "investigating" I've done on the web , it seems like there's some either Sulfites or Sulfates in beer or wine that makes my face puffy and plugs up my sinuses. Some sorta weird allergic reaction, I reckon. I either "tough it out" and go ahead and drink a beer or two, or I mostly just go competely without drinkin' for long periods of time. I'm told to stay away from alcohol due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis meds that I take, so I don't really drink too much anyways.

But Fortyshooter, the blisters you get sound a bit more serious than my mild drinkin' symptoms. Hope your Doc can help you out there.

Well the doc looked at it and took a biopsy of one of the spots to find out what it may be. Then gave me a shot of a strong steroid to help calm things down. Last time this happened several years ago they gave steroid pills for a week which cleared it up. If you have some kind of immune response drinking a beer might aggrevate it if you are even slightly sensitive to what is in that beer. Just want it to clear up so I can get back to normal activity.
But it has been HOT 95+ degree days so far for September around here so would not be doing anything outside anyway.

I hope you get feeling better really soon forty. It's no fun in hot weather to feel poorly.

Well that shot seems to be working with no itching and maybe a bit of healing started.

If the doc came to me and said, "I have some good news and some bad news. First, we found out exactly what's wrong with you. Second, you can never drink another beer again." I would respond with, what's the bad news doc?
