Wife and I watched it tonight being 50 years since it was released even though it was summer of 1974 before we got to see it and still a fun movie to watch.
Remember that summer well dating her at the time and my new 1974 Z/28 had just come in which we drove to see the movie with much cruising
the blvd. back then. Miss those days! Sometime around Fall of that year the Shony's which was the area hang out for us and many others decided to shut down the drive-in part of the business which started the end of the cruising scene.

Our cruising blvd was 8th street and the hangout was the A&W.

That movie was a favorite. I have seen it fifty times over the years. I have read all the trivia, watched the "Making of" and bought the book. I love all the people in the Movie that have gone on to bigger and better. Everyone recognizes Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, and the other big names... but some of the others that weren't big names back then...

Recognize the guy that flicks the Match at Toad's Date?
Joe Spano. Henry Goldblume on Hill Street Blues and later FBI Agent Tobias Fornell the pain in the butt for Gibbs on NCIS.

The Blonde in the T-Bird,
Suzanne Sommers - Threes Company.

John Milner's copilot in the Yellow Ford?
Mackenzie Phillips would go on to One Day at a Time...

How about toad?
Went on to star with Kevin Costner in The Untouchables.

Loved the movie so much I bought the sound track. On vinyl of course. That was my intro to music from that era and I still appreciate it greatly.

I have the two CD set and often play it in the shop while I'm working... great tunes. Sometimes you have to stop what you are doing to Sing Along.

I have never seen the movie. I know everyone loves it, but I've never been inclined to watch it.

Saw it at the Drive-in in 1975. Have a copy on VCR and DVD. Probably have seen it about 25 times through the years. Also had (still have) the Songs on 8-Track.

Sioux Fall, S.D. late '60's. Cruising Main and Phillips trying to pick up girls or set up a drag race. Then to the Barrel Drive-In for root beer and fries and girls. Just like the movie.
