My wife and I got into the car this morning to take me to the med center for my colonoscopy. It was a bit after 6 a.m. Suddenly she yells, "Is that a man laying over there?". Sure enough, one of my neighbors was lying in another neighbor's yard.....DEAD! I went up to where he was laying to check on him and saw right away he was gone. Robyn called the police and went on our way because I didn't want to miss my appointment and go through all that prep again. They called us on the way and asked a bunch of questions. The man was having substance abuse issues lately to the point his wife and kids moved out last month. It's too bad he didn't seek help as he was only in his late thirties or early forties. I'm supposed to phone the detective who was assigned the case and speak again. I'll do that in a bit as I just awoke from a nap. I didn't get too much sleep last night.

Agree on the too bad he didnt seek help. Some people just dont want help.

Since you checked on him and he was definitely dead I don't blame you for just calling the police and not sticking around. Colonoscopy prep is not something you want to do more than necessary.

Man, that's too bad. Sorry you had to find the body. I hope they don't give you too much grief, but with the appointment you had, I doubt it.

The detective on the case wants to interview me face/face tomorrow morning. I don't have anything more to tell him beyond what I already have but will extend the courtesy.

Thank you for taking the time to meet with him. One thing I learned in the time I spent in LE, in my various positions... you might not know what you know. A really good detective might ask the right questions and find out things you didn't know that you knew. I spent nearly thirty years in the field, about 14 in various patrol assignments, NOT detective. But I knew some good ones. Other assignments included Dispatch and Criminal Records and Backgrounds and Firearms Transactions. I met some really good people.
