Currently on a camping trip in SE Alaska. For those who haven’t been here, you are missing some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere on this planet. One trip here just isn’t enough! This is our second time camping this country, and it sure doesn’t get old.

I just got back yesterday from a two week trip. Keep posting pictures and tell us about your adventures.

Love the photo of the goat.

A few years ago they relocated quite a few mountain goats from the Olympic Range on the Washington coast over to the Cascades.

Apparently mountain goats are not native to the Olympic Mountains which also lack salt licks so the goats were trying to lick the sweat off of hikers (don't think I'd want a full grown mountain goat trying to get that close to me). They're being released in more remote areas and the Cascades have more abundant natural salt licks.

Lleft Chilcoot Lake this morning, and this was the view. Been watching a brown bear sow and her two cubs for the past couple of days.

Never thought I could afford an Alaska hunt, but after buying this at Sportsmans Warehouse in Juneau, I can say that I have hunted in Alaska. No closed season, no bag limits, no license required, and the game is everywhere. The Bug A Salt gun is deadly.

I have one too. Used it on yellow jackets last weekend. Yellow jackets are tough. Takes some skill to knock one down and then multiple shots to finish it.
Ammo is cheap. If you don't use too much of it, you can eat it.

Woke up this morning to find our beloved beagle dead. No warnings, just died overnight. Puts a pall on this trip. Best dog we ever had.

I use Brake Cleaner/Parts Cleaner spray and it knocks them wasp out instantly. Better than any wasp spray I have tried which seems to just drown them.

My deep sympathy, Centaur. "Best dog we ever had." says it all. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't think using Brake Cleaner/Parts Cleaner spray at the pick-nick table is a good idea. If I miss with the Bug-Asalt, a little extra salt on the burger or potato salad won't damage the food.

That's almost as bad as losing a parent. Our last dog was very sweet and her loss was rough indeed. Condolences. :(
