Cool Way to Avoid Missing Cell Phone Calls.

Post by BrokenolMarine » Fri Jul 07, 2023 10:45 am

I carry my cell phone with me most of the time, but for some reason my iphone 11 doesn't always ring. I have checked the settings, and turned off the naughty and nice choice, and made sure the volume was high on the ringer. Just for some reason the texts and calls don't always make their audible announcement, nor do the voice messages. (Stupid Phone. ) Since I'm retired, the worst thing that happens is I miss an appointment reminder from the Doc, or someone sends me a text and I don't get it, but... bored sitting in the truck waiting on Miss T I was scrolling thru settings and found "Strobe" in notifications. :o

Yup, Strobe. I turned it on. That'll get your attention, unless you are in bright direct sunlight... or something.
I lay the phone face down on the end table when it's not in my shirt pocket so the ceiling suddenly lights up now. ;)
The front pocket of my shirt glows when texts come in...
Maybe it'll help someone else.

(The Tech gal at US Cellular has NO idea why my phone rings only when it wants to... all the settings are correct.) I think SHE thinks I'm just too deaf to hear it. What? Yeah, that could be it, BUT, Miss T doesn't hear it either and yell, "Your phones ringing old man." :D

I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

I have that on my old iPhone SE. I use it.
I miss calls when I charge the phone in one spot and am someplace else. I look at it hours later and usually it wasn't important anyways.

My Galaxy phone REALLY gets your attention when my wife's glucose monitor goes beyond a certain parameter. It will wake up everyone in the house regardless of what room it/they are in.

I have my ringer off all the time. I use it to call out. Texts on the other hand gives me a ding.

I wouldn't have one if we had reliable phone service out here, but we don't. Neither the land line or cell phones work all the time, so we can't disconnect either. Between the two, we have a phone that works about 90% of the time. It's too bad, I would disconnect the land line if the cell worked. I need the cell because of the long drives we have to make to get to the docs, or the daughters.

We might be the only ones around here with a land line still. I'm still working so will carry one until I'm not and then adios cell phone. :)

I wish, but I need to know about Dr. Appointments, the four kids and six grandkids. (They don't call me unless it's an emergency.) They usually call Gma to chat, but Grumpy if they need information or have an issue and need advice. (Not that they usually take it.) These days if I call the VA with an issue, a Question , or seeking an appointment, it's leave a number for a callback. So, I need to know someone calls.

I now have a better way to know...

My new hearing aides are blue tooth and my phone will find them when they are on, and I turn on blue tooth on the phone. The hearing aide chimes when I get a text, call, message, or email. It rocks.
