Repairing Plastic Questions.....

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for a question of this type.

My wife bought a $10 "treasure" at a garage sale this weekend that actually is sorta cool. Here's a link to a minute long video. Try to stay awake:

Anyway, this heavy little cast iron beauty does have some plastic on it that needs repairing. How does one determine what type of plastic they're dealing with, and what adhesive works best for whatever type of plastic it is?

FWIW, its a back fender that was broken off with this sprinkler. We got the broken part from the seller, but now I'd like to try and repair it. Kinda like the plastic hood on my little GT275 Garden Tractor, which literally was held together for years with zip ties and duct tape, it would appear JD needs help with their plastic selection......

I've had good luck with JB Weld MarineWeld. I used it on the underside of our John Deere 355D hood. The hood had partially split down the middle.

Looks good Jimmie. Worth a fix in my opinion. I would recommend what Mags suggested. Good luck!
