Dead Deer

I’m looking out my front window and see a big dark spot in the snow so I look through my telescope.

This is what I see. I had my Nikon setup directly on the scope but viewing is better without it.

Gene, it’s dangerous up there in the north Wisconsin wilderness.😉

That looks like a pretty healthy coyote and a nice sized one too.

I’ve been watching the pecking order of who eats first, second and third.

I had what I assumed was a bear tear down my bird feeders last fall and this spring I found a
lot of bear poop around that area. Now the police in Northfield, which is 12 miles south of us
are warning of a bear in the city living off bird feeders. It has been sighted numerous times
and doesn't seem to fear people.
It won't be long and the DNR will shoot it. :o

I have my game camera out but haven't seen it yet.

That's probably an Immature Bald Eagle. They don't get the white until their second year.

Won't the coyotes and local dogs eventually drag off most of the bones off too? I'm always amazed at how fast my friend's pit/boxer can chew up a big bone.

The picture of the coyote was identified as a coywolf by a neighbor and it brought down the deer.

I just checked on the pile of bones this morning and I almost couldn’t find it as there is not much left. I’ll venture out after coffee and take another picture.

If it is a crossbreed that sure explains the large size of it. Your pics of the feeding pecking order are awesome.

A couple of days later there was only a couple of feathers left.
