A little +P drive in the Mustang yesterday....

Weather beautiful on a quiet Sunday afternoon so decided to take little Red Mustang out for a drive and to get a load of fresh 93 in it's tank.
Got the gas and off I go on my familiar route down a nice paved straight country road that goes by a prison and part of a military training center.
Mustang felt real good with the 69 degree dry springtime air so I get ready to make my turn around at the base entrance to go back and do the drive again. Now there is one sharp 90 degree left turn in the road at the end of one straight that I love to down shift to third and hit it exiting turn...Mustang handles that well and that's when I noticed something in black coming up fast behind me. A fairly new black Corvette and have an idea of what the driver is going to do.
So when I see him pull out into the left lane....only a 2 lane road now and I am going about 55 MPH in the 45 zone and just got into 4 th gear out of turn....I just see him pulling up on my left rear and then a quick down shift back to 3rd and foot into the pair of Holley 660's.
Well here we go and I don't see him by my door yet as I go into 4th at 6100 RPM but hear his Vette singing RPM's. We both stay in it in the long flat paved stretch me just ahead of him and MPH must be in triple digit with the speedo needle maxed out past the max of 85 MPH...1985 you know.
Lots of woods coming up in the short distance on both sides of road and there is a slight dip ahead so I backout and let him storm ahead. Didn't want any part of one or both losing it into the trees.
Yep should not have done it but the old Stang held it's ground and I needed to flush the rear carb of the old gas anyway.....
Guess the Vette driver figured the old man in the old 85 Mustang was an easy push over. WRONG.
That little red devil attached to the dash mounted tach gets me in trouble sometimes!
