This is one of those life choices that took great pondering, Sandy is tired of my constant complaining about my dentures so I'm getting implants monday, it's going to be nice weather so I'm riding the Yamaha V star, In return she's getting a hot tub . Life's good

So are you saying that the new implants cost as much as a new Harley?

Absolutely they do

In either respect, don't bite off more than you can chew.

Dental implants are expensive and take up to nine months or more to complete with the healing process.

Was just at my dentist yesterday and he said Clearchoice charges around $40,000 for full mouth implants but I saw this when doing some googling. Haven't priced a new Harley lately but I imagine you could get a pretty nice one for that price.

I've spent at least $10,000 out of pocket over the years for my crowns and 1 implant. Insurance also paid the same. For quite some time I was paying my dentist $50 to $100 a month to cover my share of a crown or two every year. I think it was money well spent. I just watched a friend of mine go through getting non-implant dentures and it was an ordeal and even after being fully healed they are not even close to the same as real teeth.

8 implants 4 top 4 bottom and top of the line snap in dentures are $31k but only $17k after insurance, take the word "ONLY" lightly and in the grand scheme I got off cheap. All on 4 which are bolted in are $62k but only $36k after insurance and there's that word again.. $17k will get a nice used Heritage soft tail or a low rider. If I had a dollar for every time someone looked at the V star and said "nice Harley" I could buy a new Road king .

You have some good dental insurance, mine will only pay a maximum of $2000 a year, same as when I was working. I got lucky when my dentist did my 1 implant. He set the implant and a temporary top in the Fall of one year and waited 6 months to do the permanent tooth so the bill was spread over 2 years so I got off paying around $1500 on a over $4000 bill.

Is the snap in denture removable by you or do you have to go to the dentist? I wonder why the bolt in's are so much more expensive, seems like it's just different hardware as it's the same number of implants.

I first got upper and lower implants with snap-in dentures in 2000.

In 2020, one of of the upper implants failed (excessive long term movement of an ill fitting denture), and I had to have all of the remaining upper implants removed and the holes filled with bone grafting material. After they healed, I got six new implants and a bolt-in upper denture made of porcelain and titanium. That cost me $32K.

Last year, I had a new lower snap-in denture made. That cost me $10K.

I got lucky. My dentist and her lab technician are masterful. Perfect fit. No follow-up needed. Very unusual.

Two years ago I had the work done. I only have two implants on the bottom and none on the top. I can eat anything I want now.
My dentist told me that usually the uppers fit so tight that they're not a problem so unless they are, not to waste the money
on upper implants. He was correct.
I have two lower implants and my plate snaps in and is secure.
I use the powder on both just to seal them and the powder has no taste at all.
I have a good friend who got four upper and four lower implants. It cost him a lot but he's happy with them.
I can take my plates out, although sometimes it's all I can do to get them loose, but I like to be able to flush out my
mouth. You'd be surprised how much debris is in your mouth which of course can cause bad breath, ect.
My friend cannot get his out.
I initially thought I might want to go back for upper implants, but now I see no point. I'm getting along just fine.

Had no idea that they were that high. I think thats way out of control. As far as the Harley goes Ive owned 4 of them. Ive also owned many of the rice burners as hard core Harley people call them. Nothing wrong with the VStar. Had a Honda F6B and would buy another one of those in a heartbeat if I made the choice to be on 2 wheels again. YMMV
