Guitar preferences?

I have been a guitar hack for a long time, and have owned several cheap acoustics over the years. In the past year, I moved up to Taylor acoustics, and my interest and my skills have increased considerably. I’m betting that we have a fair amount of good guitarists here, and I wonder about your brand preference, if any. For me, Taylor’s playability and sound is hard to beat, but no doubt some Martin lovers would disagree. Kind of a Chevy vs Ford type of debate.

My wife has a Tayler and loves it. It sounds juat like it has reverb coming out the sound hole. She even lets me play it if I want. She used to play in a band with me but doesn't play anymore. Hands don't work like they should anymore.

I've got too many. I sold my vintage Guild's this year to try to get my collection down a bit. I still have some for sale on Reverb. The only acoustic I own is an Ovation 12 string but even it has a built in preamp. I own 2 Heritage, 3 Gibson's, 1 G&L legacy, 1 Reverend, 1 Gretsch, and 2 Godin guitars. If that's not enough I have 5 different amps.

Hey All,
I have a number of guitars and amps as well. As a brand I tend to favor martin but do have one Taylor (gsmini). My experience is that there is more variability within any particular guitar brand than between brands. Hence I think one should simply find what sounds best to you and what "fits" you best whatever the brand. Do that an you'll be happy until GAS guitar acquisition syndrome strikes.

I sold my 1977 Guild Starfire IV last year along with my 1998 Guild Bluesbird and 2000 D30. Well, as you know one starts missing things and I've since purchased a Heritage H535 and H150. Today I added a Ovation 2071 to go along with my Ovation Ovation 2056AX-5 Pro Legend 12-String.

Sold my 2nd reissue Gibson Flying V to a collector a few years ago. Got 10 times what I paid for it. Traded a ES335 and my T-Bird bass for a nice Les Paul Standard last year. Love playing it.

My wife and I are both professional musicians. In addition to her violin, viola, and piano, my wife took up classical guitar during COVID, taking Zoom Suzuki lessons from a great teacher in Ann Arbor. We recently took delivery of a commissioned instrument from Ivan Escobedo in Mexico (he is on Facebook). It has great workmanship and sound, and was reasonably priced.

Playing classical guitar benefits any guitar playing style. I have an old Japanese made Ventura (70's) that I got cheap, but it is well made and sounds great, but usually play my Godin ACS when practicing classical. I'll look up Escobedo.

My wife and I have played in bands together for many years. She no longer can play due to her hands not working like they should. I still play a bit, but not all the time like I used to. I get together with a few old players like me every mounth to stay in practice. I did get stupid a month or so ago and bought a new Gretsch White Falcon. It's a great playing guitar. I hope everyone here playes there guitars for many more years to come. I know I am going to.

Congrats on the White Falcon! My only Gretsch is an orange G5422T Electromatic. I really like the way it plays.
