2022 Income Taxes
figuring our state and federal taxes is about as easy as they can get ... we have 4 1099 forums, 2 from state retirement and 2 from social security ..... we also take the standard deduction ... even at that I still use H&R Block software .... ours worked out to pretty much the same refund as last year .... we e-filed both the Federal and State .... we were happily surprised to see that the Federal forms were accepted about 15 minutes

Mine are done and I didn't owe, or get a refund. Works for me!

Re: 2022 Income Taxes
Haven't done mine yet. I don't usually get my final tax forms until the end of March. I don't know why it takes them so darn long.

I will be doing mine soon with aid of Turbo Tax. Been using it for years.
Re: 2022 Income Taxes
I use FreeTaxUSA. Pretty simple return, 2 1099's from my pension and my SS 1099, no state income tax.
My return was accepted by the IRS on Jan. 23 and deposited to my bank on Jan. 31 so 8 days. I think that's about the fastest ever.

Re: 2022 Income Taxes
I meet with my tax man next month. My taxes are complex enough that I can’t do them. Actually I can but what I found is paying someone gets me less tax to pay.
My income for 2021 was way high from the sale of my house in Washington. Matter of fact my tax burden was twice my best earning year. This year I had stock sales. I consider myself middle class income but the feds say I’m upper class. My friends say I have no class.
I’ve been here one week short of a year. Watch for my cost of living comparison post.

You need new friends. I consider you first class.
Ever since I married a Lawyer, all I do is sign the forms. She does all the taxes. I love it.

Re: 2022 Income Taxes
Used H&R Block software to prepare my taxes again this year. Submitted online and accepted within five minutes on 02/04; approved today; pending payment is in my bank account this morning for deposit on 02/13. Amazing.

amazing indeed
Re: 2022 Income Taxes
I don't know but with today's technology and being that these tax forms are sent online in a pdf or similar format that a lot of the tax returns are never touched by a human unless there's a problem and the IRS computer kicks them out to be reviewed.
Re: 2022 Income Taxes
I did our taxes last Saturday (1 week ago). They were accepted by both state and Federal; HOWEVER, the news is reporting that now the Federal Government is looking to tax the state's rebate they did last year. Both state and Federal refunds are being held up and we may have to refile to take into account that rebate.
I look just like my avatar.

Re: 2022 Income Taxes
no surprise in hearing they want to tax every possible source ..... that said, I would find it a bit odd for them to stop the whole process and start over ..... I'm unsure what the state's tax rebate was .... our state taxes zero out to where we get nothing back

No longer an issue of concern...

The Internal Revenue Service will not collect federal taxes against state-issued inflation relief payments or tax refunds, the agency said Friday, a reprieve for tens of millions of taxpayers who received the subsidies.

Re: 2022 Income Taxes
according to the IRS website ===> https://www.irs.gov/refunds our refund should be sent to our credit union by Feb 14th .... if that is correct, that will be 8 days after e-filing .... by past history, that ain't too bad at all
