for those who blissfully may not know, Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain .... it involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of each foot and connects the heel bone to the toes (plantar fascia)....plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain .... my first experience with it was well over 10 years ago .... a visit to a podiatrist resulted in orthotics and weeks later, the pain stopped .... a month ago I wore some LL Bean hard rubber sole rain boots and plantar fasciitis returned with a vengeance .... having heard good things about "The Good Feet Store" I went to one looking for a good pair of orthotics .... I tried a good set of theirs and they worked .... HOWEVER, they want to sell theirs in a set of 3 different pairs in which the arch support differs greatly .... their set of three supports come with a $1,200 price tag .... I left shortly after getting that quote .... from there I went to Amazon and found several similar orthotics .... thankfully the set ordered arrived today and happily, they work well

I wish I could type something that could help ya. I dealt with this when I was a foolish runner. It is a real pain. I recall sitting around watching TV for, say, 20 minutes or so with my feet propped up on our coffee table. As soon as you get up to walk, you go through that pain all over again.

I too went to a Podiatrist for mine, who prescribed orthotics. He said "Wear 'em when you walk, at work, while running, pretty much all the time." The next hunting season, with those very orthotics, my old reliable Danner boots let those inserts wear most of the skin off my heels, ball of my feet, bottoms of most of my toes, & etc.. Had to get nearly the same treatment for the loss of skin as folks with 2nd degree burns. I have a real axe to grind with orthotic inserts now. I was in my 40s at that time.

I just rested & stopped running for a few months, was careful to stretch almost religiously, and kinda outgrew the issue. Before long, I was back doing my 7 minute miles for 7 miles.

And then needed knee replacements at 56. Seems like everything I do "for my health" backfires.

I had it and went to Dr. Scholl's tennis shoes and never had another problem.
Cheap fix.

Its bad bad when you got it. I had a bout of it for a little over six months about a year or so ago, and sure dont want that demon again!!!!!

I feel your pain… or I did. I fought it for about four years in both feet. I had cortisone injections three times each heel. I had to wear "boots" to sleep in. I have three different styles of them. I had to put orthotic inserts in all of my shoes. Some shoes just didn’t work well regardless of the insert.my wife’s company owned the companies that makes Power Step inserts and the sleep boots. So she gets them way below retail. I have found that Hoka brand and On Cloud brand shoes work well for me. Also I never walk around barefoot or wear flat shower shoes or sandals. I have a couple of pairs of runner recovery slip ons by Hoka and Oofos that work great. And a pair of OluKai sandals that have a high arch. I have been pain free in my left foot for the past year. My right heel reminds me from time to time to stretch occasionally. I also have developed a bersa under the right heel that feels like a small cushion. It has gotten smaller over time. I wish anyone who is suffering with this evil condition the best recovery possible.

Exactly. I was wearing cheap Chinese tennis shoes with no arch support. I found that Dr. Scholl's tennis shoes
work well for me and aren't that expensive. I'm sure there are other alternatives.
I can tell you that it hurts pretty bad so I do my best to avoid getting it again.

I had this issue about 8-9 years ago. My plantar fasciitis was caused by extra weight. The doctor gave me a boot to wear nightly, and some insoles. Worked like a charm, also losing weight helped.
Hubby has plantar fasciitis now, I got him the insoles and they work for him too.

UPDATE :

over the years I've purchased many different types of footwear in an attempt to find shoes that don't aggravate my Plantar fasciitis .... properly designed and located arch support is the key .... be it walking shoes, tennis shoes, boots, bedroom shoes, dress shoes or anything else, the most effective ones are MarsRoad Men's Outdoor Hiking Sandals ====> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B096R ... UTF8&psc=1..... right out of the box I've found I they work really well .... as one who hasn't worn sandals in decades, that has come as a surprise

My feet are badly deformed so plantar fasciitis is only one of my problems. When I was younger, I discovered that cowboy boots helped. The heel lifts up my feet to the correct angle.

Now, in my sixth decade, I have to spend extra $$$$ on really good shoes that won't break down in the arch or heel. Orthopedic heal supports lift the heal like cowboy boots did. When my feet start to hurt, it's time for new shoes.

Try some Oboz shoes they are really supportive and I like them alot

I have discovered another brand of shoes that are great for my feet. On Cloud makes several versions of shoes. I now have four different models that all feel great. I wouldn’t recommend ordering them online before trying them on in a store.
So now my go to shoes that really help my feet are Hoka and On Cloud for daily wear. Oofos and OluKai for around the house. I never go barefoot or wear anything that doesn’t have a good arch and a good heel.

I'm completely in that boat as well .... I'd never heard of Hoka or On Cloud shoes, suggestion and information most certainly appreciated .... they both look very nice ... do admit to them causing me some sticker shock ....

UPDATE :

the weather has allowed me to spend more and more time wearing the sandals shown above .... they really work well and perform as advertised in handling my Plantar Fasciitis​ ..... sometimes it pays to be paranoid and pays to take precautions ..... with that in mind I've ordered a second pair so as to guarantee a few years from now I will be able to replace the ones I'm wearing

Ordering a second pair of shoes that help your feet is called "Being Smart".

Mostly wear moose hide moccasins now, spent too many years in cowboy riding boots. Much more comfortable.

I'm lucky to get 10 months out of a pair of shoes. The only shoes I get to keep longer than that are my dress shoes, and my hunting boots. Fortunately, my hunting boots get a lot more use than my dress shoes.

UPDATE :

delighted to be able to report that the sandals shown in the link in post 1 continue to be very effective in preventing my Plantar Fasciitis from flaring up .... I wear them most all day, every day that we have good weather .... there is no doubt that they are one of the best buys I've ever made in dealing with the problem

I picked up my orthodics Wednesday. I'm supposed to break them in but so far so good.

breaking them in properly is a good idea .... going too fast can end up causing soreness that ain't a lot of fun
