So I had his flight info setup on Flight Aware watching the time delay due to weather....snow flurries and 24F with 20+ wind.
At same time I would pull up the live Midway Airport cam and by switching back and forth saw his flight take off on the cam shot!
Safe travels son as he should be in Richmond around 8:30 PM EST.
Simple entertainment for me!

He is coming back from a business trip.

Hope everything has gone well Forty. I flew in and out of Midway many times, well before live cams were available. that would be entertainment.

I remember when you just had to make sure the traveler had a few coins in their pocket to make a call from the phone booth after they landed. Of course then they had to wait for a little while for someone to drive to the airport to pick them up.
But on the up side the traveler didn't have to arrive several hours before the flight and undergo several invasive searches prior to being allowed on the plane.

He got to Richmond about 1 1/2 hour late and was happy to get back to 40 F weather!

It was a 2 day company business trip.
Back to reality when he returned to his home....the 11 yr. old had an ear/sinus infection and one of the TV's had quit so spent Saturday taking one to the Doc and then buying new TV while wife running her hair salon. Busy life!

Yes, and remember having to call the airline to see if the flight was delayed. Being on hold forever….. don’t miss that at all.

I remember when I was kid and we would drive home over the mountain pass in the Winter and my parents would call person to person to my brother when we got home. He would say the person we were calling was not there so we weren't charged for the call but he would know we got home safely.
Now with cell phones we can call anywhere in the country and talk as long as we want for no extra charge. I can remember when calling a town around 20 miles away the charge for a very short call was a few bucks.

Yup, you don't hear the term "long distance call" anymore.
