I saw a nice Rifle Sling that someone else had done based on a Don Gonzales pattern. It was a thumbhole sling, which allows you to put your thumb thru the sling and control the rifle and rest that arm while walking thru the woods.

When I saw it, I remembered the style from years ago and I had liked it. My Ruger Ranch Rifle has a simple Cloth Sling I bought at the Gun Shop when I picked up the rifle. I ordered the pattern from Don's shop and when it arrives... I'll get busy. If there is an interest, I'll post the process here. If not, I'll just post pics of the completed sling. I have to decide if I'll use his carving pattern, or just basket weave the sling and put a coyote on the top, since the Ranch Rifle is in the stable for that reason.
