First, the bad news. Wife had cataract surgery yesterday. It didn't go well.

She has been pretty much blind since shortly before her stroke, earlier this year. Found out it was cataracts. Had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get clearances and waiting for surgery appts. Had the first done two weeks ago, and it went well, although it will take some time for her vision to clear.

They did the second one yesterday, and much of the lens capsule separated from the body of the eye.

Good news is, they can fix it. Saw the retina specialist this morning and they have her scheduled for cleanup surgery tomorrow, and will receive a sew in lens implant in about a month. If all goes well, she should have decent vision in both eyes.

This has been a roller coaster ride of just one more clearance from XYZ specialist. Well worth it. At the time of the stroke we thought she was permanently blind. Even the blurry one eye only vision she now has is a huge improvement.

I now have a whole basket of eye drops to be given up to three times a day. Good thing I'm retired.

Hope all continues to go well for your wifes recovery. My wife had both eyes done couple years ago and she can see very well. I probably need the same done.

I have had poor vision in my left since childhood but excellent in my right.
Just last month, got a vision check. Corrected vision in the right 20/20.
Left eye is 20/400. My new glasses have clear glass in the left side.

Best wishes for the wife. Hope both eyes heal, but she can do very well with good vision in only one... Not to worry.

Thanks to all. Getting ready to take her to the clean up surgery this morning. Assuming that goes well, it will be another month before she can get the final implant. This waiting and setbacks are getting old.

But then, so are we.

Same here for shooting with both eyes open.

Well, she's home. Doc said she did well. Now is the time on Sprockets when we wait. Cross fingers that she heals properly and then in a month gets the new lens. In the meantime time the other eye is improving, very, very slowly, but it is improving.

It's still far better than we feared early in the year.

Wishing your wife a successful surgery this AM. My wife had very poor vision most of her life. When she was 7 years old, her school tested her vision. When she got her first pair of glasses, she did not that green color on trees was actually single leaves. She said she cried for all of the things she could see now. Run up to when she turned 65 and got Medicare and good supplement, she had cataracs removed from both eyes and had new lenses put in. She only uses readers for very small print.
