The Fourth is a special day for us. Both our families served in WWII and then a lot
of cousins were in Korea and Vietnam as was I.
I have been asked to participate in a flag ceremony at the fireworks by the VFW.
Usually we avoid the crowds and watch from a high point in the country where we can
see the fireworks of several municipalities at once, but the VFW has procured a police
pass for us to park right at the front of the crowd, so we will break with tradition and
I will put on the uniform and do my job.

Well, I did the Fourth but now I got talked into driving our WWII Jeep in a parade Saturday night.
I had no plans to attend the celebration, but they said there is no one else they trust to drive it.
It's the local city celebration week.

When I was younger I drove my vintage Corvette in the Cruise Night and went to the street dancing.
I'm old now. I stay home and avoid the crowds. besides, I can't walk that far anymore due to back
problems that are getting worse as I get older. I had a bad fall out of a Huey in VN that hurt my back.
So, I will lead the parade with the VFW Commander and the flags marching behind me.
I kinda think that there are other folks who could drive it, but they they asked me so I could participate.
Thanks, I think.'👀

Every year we get together with close friends (close like family) and shoot a bunch of tanerite and eat a bunch of food, and reflect in humble thankfulness. Thank you, all of you veterans, law enforcement folks and active-duty folks, we truly do appreciate you.
