Finally got it all pieced together. Diamond D holster, Gold USMC emblem, nice belt, buckle from one of my old units, pistol, and stag grips.

Me to. I'm hoping one of the local ranges will host one, as we've done in the past (pre-Covid). Last time we had about 75 people (including wives, GF's and kids) show up with an amazing variety of hardware, including some full auto stuff, and ELR rifles. The range doesn't have to provide any food/beverages (no alcohol allowed) of course, just something to shoot at and a range officer. Everyone had a great time.

While there are many guns I would like to have the only one I lack and really want is some make of a 1911. Of course I would want it in .45 so would need to stock another caliber and I see that .45 is a lot more expensive than 9mm. Not in the budget now but maybe someday.

That's one fine looking BBQ rig. Nothing beats a 1911 45.

I appreciate the compliments, y'all. I've been spending quite a bit of time (and money) on this gun since the last post, getting it properly broken in. Bought a 6 pack of Wilson Combat mags, since the factory mags just weren't cooperating, and have gotten it smoothed up to where the factory mags feed reasonably well even with cheap Winchester White Box ball. Burned up about 150rnds to this point. The old shootin' stump is looking pretty ragged.

Even so, I'll likely just use the WC mags as the preferred load, and put the factory MecGar's in a drawer for EOTWAWKI backups.

Dave, unless you're going to start collecting them, my advice is to not get one of the "other" brands, but set your sites on a Colt. I currently own 5 1911s; one is an ATI Titan FX-45 in stainless steel, one is a Rock Island Armory in 10 mm, one is a Desert Eagle in .45 ACP, and the other two are Colts that have been custom engraved and will be passed on as heirlooms to my grandson. I thought about getting an Ithaca and customizing it, but it the end, a 1911 is a Colt in .45 ACP.

What model would you suggest? Anything over $1000 is out of my price range. Not going to happen right now, anyway seems most new ones are out of stock at all the reputable dealers. I see there are Colt stores just like the Beretta stores that have every model made in stock. Of course they only take Zelle or cryptocurrency for payment. I've seen several posts over on the Beretta forum asking if they are legitimate sites, at least they're wary enough to ask.

Also, why Colt over a Springfield or Ruger? They seem to have very good reviews.
