As posted in the breakfast thread police sirens were abound this morning. Couldn't figure what was going on until this link was posted on the Nextdoor app. This subdivision is adjacent to ours to the west. Just another reason to be armed.

I agree with you. That homeowner saved all of them it seems. (I added the emphasis to Jake's words in the quote)

Agreed. Always armed or handy. Hopefully somebody got some video of the perps and/or car they probably had nearby.

Proper home security can be expensive, especially in urban/suburban areas where your options are more limited than in rural settings.

There was some clarification on the local news. It was the grandfather taking the child to school and the father that awoke and armed himself. It was also reported that this family owned two businesses in the area and were likely targeted.

We live between Seattle and Olympia, if there's not at least two murders a day it's a holiday..

This is one reason that I carry, or at least have a gun close at hand. Don't forget the extra mags 😊

I have my carry carry permit and I am armed at all times. Even in church.
Being married to a lawyer there are folks that are pissed off at her from time to time.
I pray I never have to use it, but I will as a last resort.

I worked in Corrections with Juvenile Drug Dealers, then in LE for more than two decades. The Jr. Criminals always made threats, but recognized I was willing and able to stand up for myself. I would have been most at risk out with the family. I remember being in a Stop and Rob one night and paying close attention to someone suspicious at the register. I looked down and my two girls with me that night were gone. I glanced up and they were basically behind an end cap at the far end of the store, and I got a thumbs up. The guy at the register left, and they came and rejoined me, we got what we needed and left. In the car, I asked what "That was about?"

"You had that look, Dad." the oldest said, "and you always said if something happened you might become a target, so we should give you space... we thought something might, so we did."

Funny, The youngest is in her thirties, they girls still cue off my behavior in public places if we happen to be together. Their spouses are all decent guys, but NOT aware. The middle gals hubby brings his 9mm on family trips, but unloaded and locked in the console. We have had the conversation, but he still carries it in the console with the mag beside the holster, console locked. I still sit with my back to a wall where I can watch as much of the room as possible. Yes, I still carry at least ONE firearm.

I make it a point not to post my name and exact location on social media and only belong to two forums. No facebook, twitter, or the rest. Most of my friends know I was a Marine and a shooter. FEW of my friends know what I have or where I keep it. (ALL) One gun safe is in the laundry room, to big to move farther into the house. I don't offer tours.

I am never more than ten steps from a loaded handgun or shotgun in my house and when I go out my Austrian friend Herr Glock is always with me plus an extra magazine. The American Rifleman always has The Armed Citizen page every month to tell about folks protecting themselves. And I don't do Facebook or any of the others.
