We get our chimney cleaned and inspected every few years just for safety. Not required.

Congrats Oldbrass on escaping the Republic of Washington. First Sir Henry and now you, could be a trend here.

My wife and I were talking yesterday (not seriously) about moving and I said βhow bout Tennesseeβ. Would love to move just 30 miles east to Idaho but unfortunately the west coast big city migration is flooding Idaho and the locals are getting pretty upset. Iβm envious of you and Gene making the changes you are at this stage of your lives and hereβs a tip of the cap to you guys.

It was 1983 when I decided to sell my home in Northern Virginia and relocate to rural Minnesota. It was a good move for us.
I was a single parent and had no family out there and I wanted my children to have that family experience.
I was still single until I met Carol in 1992 and married her in 1995. She had a teen age daughter to add to my family and it
has all worked out very well.
It's a big event in anyone's life. You're leaving something that you know, and are comfortable with, to a great unknown.
I've know folks who couldn't adapt to the new environment and moved back, but most get along very well.
For us, family is very important and we have several family gatherings every year, (usually at our place). I love it.
One thing I would mention. You are not always accepted into the new community right away. I use for an example the phrase
"Minnesota Nice". The new neighbors are polite but you aren't invited to any of the activities going on with them. It took quite a
while for me to be accepted at home, and even at work. It's not that they're bad people, it's just that they have their own relationships and are comfortable with them, and you may not fit into their clique. In Minnesota there are a lot of cliques.
