As I work my way through these digital back issues, I ran across this ad from March 1963.



Oh my, I was ten years old at the time, I doubt that my dad would have got me one for Christmas…..

Always have wanted a Luger but too much $$ for a nice one.

Not gun related but how about this old ad, now you can get a 5 terrabyte drive for $100

Converting 1963 dollar value to 2022 dollars the Lugers would start at about $375 just based on the ad. Of course if you had bought a dozen back then, you'd have something now.

Dang I can’t believe I missed that deal. But then again I was just finishing grammar school. I wonder if they still have any available?

I always enjoy the link to the guns magazine past issues. I never remember to save it somewhere. I pick an issue, look at it and usually something comes up and the next thing I know .........

In 63 I was 14 lived in Bklyn N.Y. so the only guns I seen were in magazines.Never shot a gun till drafted in 68. But 63 was a great year for Corvettes. A one year run for the split window coupe.

I download them using my iMac. I create a folder called for example “Guns 1963”. Download the 12 issues for that year, rename them G0163 G0263 G0363, through G1263, so they are easily identifiable and in order. Make sure they are all in the appropriate year folder. Select and then open all the files for one year and they get carried into my Books app. I can read them later on any of my devices, but it is easiest in the iPad in portrait position, these files are pdfs, essentially images of each page, and they are too small to read on my iphone. After I read an issue, I delete it everywhere, including the Cloud, but that doesn’t erase the actual downloaded files from the iMac, it just keeps things tidy and reduces duplicates and clutter. And as you can see, the cover for each issue displays nicely.

The 63-67 body style is still my favorite.
I have a '72 that is Dire need of restoration.

As to the Lugers, had a friend back in the late 80's, early 90's that traded them around.
He seemed to always have a couple laying around that he was cleaning or working on.
Sure wish I had gotten one before that got so outrageous.
