That's what I would hear sometimes but the truth is.... I would be either fixing something that broke.... PM'ing something so it wouldn't break or building something new that they would break .... for 40 years!

Taking care of things so they last, means you can keep nice things. Good for you.

With us it was: "Must be nice to afford all those..."

As a retired mechanic I feel your pain ( back pain and sore knuckles)

Spent 25 years working at an aircraft parts factory (Boeing who after 12 years sold the factory to a company called Triumph) and with both our maintenance department was the most valuable group in the plant. Not only for repair but for the PM’s done to avoid repairs. It was wise to have those folks on your good side.
