Catch of the day!
Bought one of those cage type minnow traps a while back and finally got around to put it in the creek yesterday. Using cracker crumbs and cheese for bait I found one in there today and let him go. Any idea the species of it.... common creek chub?

Maybe. Little bass?

Does look like a shad. Shad have a deeply forked tail, but can't tell by the pic.

Will try it again further up the creek near the road. It is much wider and deeper up there. Was cool to see one that size!

So, minnow trap equals underwater game cam...
Cool.
Cool.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Re: Catch of the day!
Early 90s took my daughter fishing (5 years old then) with bucket of minnows. I turned around and she's taking them out of the bucket telling them "by fishy fishy" and naming everyone before putting them in the stream. When I went to put one on hook she started crying, it was lures from then on... Big strong dad was no match for that

The life of a Minnow, as with most life on this planet, can be summed up in 4 words: Eat, Sleep, Defecate, Procreate.
