I am permitted to carry a concealed defensive weapon, I can buy and sell firearms instantly, I can buy ammunition and reloading equipment and components, and I can enjoy my shooting sports all day long. What's not to like?

Just for starters, the fact that there is no other Right that requires a fee to exercise it. And many people cannot afford the costs associated with required permitting and training, which are quite high in some States - on top of ownership costs. Should they be priced out of the Right?

I can do everything you mentioned without any permit whatsoever.

Agree. A right is not a right, if you have to pay to exercise it. But, some may look at firearms as a way to generate funds, kinda like taxes on gas and cigarettes. Just like cigarettes, some may be attempting to tax firearms out of some people reach? In effect, limiting the ownership of firearms.
