56 and dark but it’s supposed to be a sunny day in no smoke. High of 93, yuk. Hotter tomorrow with possible thunderstorms coming in. This combined with a forecast on Saturday of wind gusts to 35 mph could make another Saturday Red Flag Warning for wildfire happen. Second verse same as the first.

Not much going on today other than staying inside with the A/C this afternoon.

we have an oppressive 95 (RealFeel 109) @ 1PM which is our forecasted high for today .... thunder has been rumbling just west of us for the last 20 minutes or so .... rain has just started falling, sure hope we get plenty of rain .... first up this morning a drive to our local Verizon to get them to strengthen the spam filters on our Iphones .... to be able to say it appears to be working .... I was getting hammered with calls trying to change our Medicare coverage ....over 70 calls pushing MetLife this past weekend ....

Well, we go off to an early start yesterday morning, (much to my surprise), only to
get an hour down the road and Carol discovered she'd left her eye medicine from her
Cataract Surgery at home. So we parked and unhooked the Bronco and returned home
and got it.

Back on the road and an hour further south and almost to Wisconsin we threw
a fan belt, ( I think anyway), overheated and the computer shut the engine down.

Next we spent three hours on the shoulder of I90 trying to deal with our insurance until
we finally said we'd find a tow truck and bill them.

We finally got a tow back to the Freightliner Dealer in Rochester and they said they
were two weeks behind and not sure when they would get to it, so we unloaded everything
and came back home.

The toughest part was telling my Daughter we weren't coming.

Holy crap coop, what a bummer. Thankfully you had the Bronco attached to at least get you back home. Ugh!

Here we go again, another weekend of fire danger due to winds, heat and low humidity. This weekend we have lightning to add to the danger. So far we are remaining at a watch level not a warning as the past few weekends have been. And for me selfishly the thunderstorms are predicted to remain to both the east and to the west of me in the mountains. So hopefully no lightning right here at home here in the valley.

I ran into a former co worker who I had heard lost her home and sadly it’s true. It was very depressing hearing her story about how little time she had to evacuate. She had just put thousands of dollars into new HVAC and other improvements. She also had just contracted for a new roof but thankfully that hadn’t happened yet.

We finally got a tow back to the Freightliner Dealer in Rochester and they said they

Was there damage to the engine from overheating, if it just needed a new belt it seems they could have taken the time to install a new one.

Don't know yet. We got to the dealership right at closing time so no one looked at it last night. Then the drive shaft had to be removed to tow it so that needs to be reinstalled after they get it move into the shop.
Their yard was full of trucks and RVs waiting repair so I think it just might be a while, but the shop manager was nice and said he'd see what he could do today.
Damage to the engine? Well, it happened so fast I don't know. I got the gong warning with a computer warning on the dash and almost before I could get it on the shoulder it shut the engine down. I guess the computer does that to protect the engine so I hope there is no damage. After it set a while I tried to turn it over and the computer kept telling me it was not on line. I guess we'll see. There was still anti freeze in the reservoir so it was not out of fluid.

72 (RealFeel 75) @ 8:45PM which rain falling and, thankfully, more on the way .... our first day in weeks without our high being in the 90's or triple digits .... first up this morning, Maureen had physical therapy .... on the way home we took care of some minor things like a pharmacy stop at Walmart and mailing bills at our local post office .... we also stopped at our favorite breakfast restaurant
