Spring Is Alive In The Woods

Leaves are popping on most trees here, ticks are out, spring flowers are blooming. The grass will need mowing when it dries out.
I got all my plowing done a couple of days ago. The disc and roto tillers are standing by for the rain to stop and things to dry out a bit. Radishes and lettuce have been planted in the outdoor deck pots.
I'm ready.

My zoysia grass fully greened out a week ago! Normally in our zone it is late May.

My wife got her first Black Fly bite yesterday, a sure sign of spring. For some reason these little buggers are attracted to her. She has also had a yellow jacket sting this spring. Funny I spend a lot more time outdoors than she does and hardly ever get a sting or bite. My wife however…

Similar here. I think they go after my wife because of the body lotion she uses. I don't use body lotion.

I can't remember the last time I got a bee or yellowjacket sting but I don't swat at them (unless they're in the house) like some people do, I just ignore them. Mosquitos too, used to go to my uncle's cabin where they could be very thick. I'd get a couple of bites and my nephew would get dozens.

We have honey bee hives on our property for pollination. We just ignore them too. But on rare occasion, a temperamental guard bee will decide to chase you down and sting. Had that happen last summer. For some reason then, they would go after us if we had a hat on. So for the rest of last summer, no hat wearing around the bees. So far this spring we haven't seen that behavior

My lawn need mowing but I can't for at least another week if the Doc clears me. The hype here is the morels are coming. It is a major thing for many people.
