Well, I'm thinkin' this new Toric Lens gizzie might be a pretty cool thing, so far.
Had my first surgery yesterday morning. My rt. eye was the first orb repaired. Slept with a patch/guard on last night to keep me from scratching it in my sleep. Now that the pupil has finally dialated back down to almost normal size, there's a noticeable amount more general "brightness" in that rt. eye versus the left one. Before I put my eyedrops in this morning, it seems like the vision in that eye is a little bit clearer at distances. Since the decline in my vision was over a long period of time, the sudden difference is pretty noticeable.
The surgery yesterday morning was a breeze. Went in at 8:45, and left at 10:30-ish. They spent most of the time repeatedly asking me my name, date of birth, which eye was getting fixed, getting my rt. eye (and me as well) full of eye numbing and dialating junk, and some sorta IV to make me relax and be happy.
Surgery was only about 10 minutes long. "Recovery" was short; maybe a half hour or so? Wore a patch over the eye until my post-op visit with the Dr. the same day later in the afternoon. Told me I don't need that patch except for sleeping for the next week.The only negatives so far:
Some of the post-op instructions are understandable, but tough to follow. Not supposed to tip my head to look downwards, but I find that impossible to follow. Not supposed to lift over 15 lbs. for a week or two. But the worst "negative" has only been the felt pin marker "arrow" the Dr. drew on my forehead that pointed to my rt. eye, so he knew which eye to work on. That goofy thing was hard to remove! I probably shouldn't whine about that; I could've easily come out of it with with lipstick, or a clown face, or something......
I get my next (left) eye done in 5 weeks, which seems long compared to most folks. Just the way the schedule worked out for the Doctor......
