Well, my house has been tested to well over 100 mph. Hurricane Hugo being the worst. It was around 140 mph when it made landfall. I'm a little over 20 miles from the ocean, so it slowed a little before the eye went directly over my house. Lost a lot of trees, but no real damage to house.

I was stationed in Hawaii for Hurricane Iwa in the 80s... It pounded the islands, tore part of the roof off our hanger, flooded a lot of buildings on base. We carried a good bit of our stuff up to the second floor of our townhouse style base housing, neighbors working together. Sandbagged the sliding glass doors at the back, and the front door. We had minor water damage, no mud intrusion. One of the young guys didn't want to "Do All That," shaking his head, " We'll just have to UNdo it when the storm amounts to nothing. "

He couldn't understand why none of the group would help him shovel mud out of his downstairs.
