I've fired some pretty advanced potato guns in my time.
We had two sets of Jarts when I was young. They were a great game if you played them properly. We always had adults playing with us to keep everything pretty safe. I'd like a set nowadays to go along with the horseshoes.

A neighbor kid had a potato gun a few years ago. One Saturday a lot of the guys tried it and couldn’t hit anything. I observed a lot of shots and learned from watching them because I hit a garage can at max distance with one shot. Also having shot maybe a thousand rounds in an M79 helped.daytime dave wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 10:05 amI've fired some pretty advanced potato guns in my time.

I still have some toys. This is a kit for an M109 Howitzer we affectionately called a hog. Beside it is an Army Tonka truck.

Let's not even talk about the chemistry sets you got for Christmas when we were kids. You could mix up some nasty stuff if you weren't supervised. My buddy mixed a bunch of stuff together that ate brick. Unfortunately it was the top of the brick wall in front of his house. HIS Dad took the entire set to the dump the next day.
His set lasted less than a week.
You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.
I don't look back at the things I can no longer do, I just look forward to the things I still can.
