Where does 30 years go?

Post by Hatchdog » Mon Dec 18, 2023 10:25 am

My wife and I trimmed the Christmas tree yesterday and of course as tradition dictates this was the first ornament we put on the tree. I gave this to her the first Christmas we spent together. It plugs into a light string which lights up the fireplace in the ornament. May not be noticeable in the picture.

Merry Christmas all.

Wow. I remember 1993. Vaguely. That’s quite a milestone Mike!

I met Carol in 1993. We were married in 1995.
I had been single raising two boys for 17 years.

Somewhere in the attic there are some ornaments we bought in the late 70s, when we were newly married.

The same place 52+ years went.

My wife and I were married in May of 1971.

I got more than I deserved and she got less than she deserved.

That’s interesting Coop, we are exactly the same. First hooked up in 1993 and made it official in 1995. Second marriage for both of us and we both had one son to add to the family. It’s been a great 30 years.

Lot's of similarities here. Carol had a teen aged daughter who was proving very difficult at the time, while I had two teen aged boys who were also acting like teenagers. I also had an older son and daughter who were already on their own. We got married and waited to see how this was going to work out, but they all like each other and get along well. Carol's ex had deserted her with a infant daughter and she was single for 15 years, while I had been on my own raising my boys for 17 years.
Let's see, I have two sons of my own, and adopted daughter, (who is still my little girl), a step daughter, and one foster son who still treats me with great respect although I'm not sure I deserve it.

Strange how life works out sometimes.
