About six weeks ago I saw a guy driving a 32 Ford roadster pickup slightly hot rodded with a flathead in it. I followed him into a parking lot and talked to him for a few minutes. I asked him if it had a Merc crank and he said it was a 51 Merc. flathead. And yes it sounded like no EV. ever will.

Had a friend flying to Va. from Missouri to visit his son and family over the weekend. He flew into to Richmond and then rented a Tesla from Hertz just to try one.
Well they just pointed to the car and said wave the card at the drivers window and it will open. He gets in and there are no instructions on how to start and run the thing. He Googles on his phone to figure it out.
Now Teslas are supposed to come with a charger plug in adapter since there is no standard type plug. He gets to his son's place after 2 hour drive and plans to recharge overnight at the house. Well guess what....no adapter in the car!!! So he checks around and finds a Jeep dealer that can charge it 40 miles away and that's what he had to do.
He stopped by my place on his way back to the airport and gave me a ride in it. Now man it does move out fast as we hit 75 MPH on a 5/8 mile long street with plenty left to slow down...get that dizzy feelin in the stomach from the accel! Problem was trying to remember how to get the doors to open to get in and out. A special "Door Ejection" button is placed in the armrest where you normally would find a door opening button or lever and he reminded us to don't hit that one!!

I was in a bigger town a month or so ago, and some guy was backing up his F150 electric and it was making a strange beeping sound. I asked him about it and he said “oh, that’s so you can hear me backing up”. I said, huh. My truck has one of those too, as I revved up the 5.7 V8 Tundra with TRD performance exhaust before I backed out of my spot .

I’m sure the words “Jack” and “ass” were running through his mind as I drove away peeing myself laughing!

That's all we need is cars and trucks beeping like crazy everywhere.

When Osha made us put warning signals on our big trucks and heavy equipment back in the 70's, I didn't mind the bells, but hated the beepers. A truck now and then is bad enough. I can just imagine what it's going to be like at the shopping centers and grocery stores in the near future.

Cars and trucks are just exploding. One car in Virginia burnt the whole house down. Another one erupted at an automotive plant lot waiting to be shipped. Fireman now have to be retrained on how to handle this new problem. I even saw a report on TV where an airport bans EV's parking in their parking lots.

i hope one day they realize...this EV thing is a bad idea. It should be nothing more than a novelty for those interested.

I have absolutely no interest in an EV, however I have switched almost completely to cordless power tools and they
work just fine. Recently I purchased a battery powered chain saw for my Wife and now guess who uses it the most, Me!
It's just a bottom of the line Ryobi that Home Depot sells in the Garden Department but it's light weight and works just
fine on small jobs. Since I have a lot of Ryobi tools I have multiple batteries for it as well. They do make a heavier duty
model, but I'll stick to my gas chain saws for that.
The wife and I are also looking at electric bikes that we can carry on a rack on the back of our towed vehicle when we travel.
I don't need a mountain bike, just something for us to get around with when RVing. Right now we're just comparing prices
and weight.

As my lawn tools die, I am going with cordless as well. Not an effort to save the world, but I'm just sick tripping over wires and cussing when they get caught on things! . Yes, there is the option of gas powered tools, but I don't want to be pulling cords to start them and storing gas and oil. One thing is for sure though. I won't ever be driving an EV!

I have some cordless tools and glad to have them as long as they are safe. I also don't believe they will have a major impact on the national electric grid out there. EV's though are proving to not be safe and will strain the grid at the least.

I asked on another site I'm a member of "Tell me again, where are we going to get all this Electricity from"?

And one of the answers I got was "From the Electric Fairy".

I got a DeWalt cordless hedge trimmer a few years ago as it uses the same batteries and charger as my drill and impact driver. It has plenty of power and I have never come close to depleting the 5 amp hr. batt. As a bonus it gives me an extra battery to use with my other two DeWalt tools. I always spray the cutterhead with silicon when I am finished with it to take care of sap etc.
