Christmas Shopping

Post by JEBar » Tue Dec 13, 2022 10:08 am

as this is being typed Christmas is 12 days away .... just wondering how many of our folks have finished their shopping and/or how many of us wait to the last minute ..????.. I shop for our 2 sons and do part of it for our 3 grandsons .... while I do pick up (OK order on Amazon) a few things, I give our daughter money to shop for my wife .... its been many years since I drove to stores for Christmas or any other shopping .... if all goes as scheduled, the last gifts I've ordered will be here on the 23rd or 24th

What do I get for a wife who has everything she wants? I told her to get out her shopper's magazines and pick out
the one item she liked but thought it was too expensive, and order it. Merry Christmas. :D

My wife and I generally don’t exchange gifts so no shopping pressure there. Our grandkids in California will not be here for Christmas so my wife is shopping online for them. Other son and wife are here locally (no kids) and we ask them not to give us anything but we always slip them some cash for a few date nights. Last year they moved from town to the country right at Christmas time so it was fun to buy them some “living rural” gifts.

I don’t buy Christmas gifts and prefer to give other times of the year.

Usually wife and go shopping several times in the shops in big city for our kids and grandkids in the US. We put money in Denmark kid’s US local account and tell them to buy grandkids presents a and something for themselves. Wife & I exchange gifts except this year, we purchased a gigantic TV so that was our gift to each other.

We buy a little for our kids and a lot for grand kids.
For us, we each buy ourselves a major gift and fake giving it to the other.

We buy for he kids and grandkids.
The wife does most of the grilling these days, and wanted a newer grill.
So I told her to order whatever and it got here the other day so it's together and ready to use.
I bought a used Redfield Revolution 2x7x33 scope the other day.
So we're good, as I won't be home for Christmas as I'm going to spend with one daughter and the 4 grandchildren.

I had dinner and exchanged with my daugher and her family already. I will exchange with stepson and his family on Christmas day.

Everything is bought and delivered. Now to finish wrapping.

Wife and I used Amazon for most of the family gifts this year . Our two granddaughters had sent us a wish list from Amazon for us to pick from so that helped a lot. I had some credit built up with Cabela's so I took my wife up there to look at some new sweaters and things and told her to pick whatever she wanted. Now to start wrapping things as we are about a week behind due to messing with the flu bug which is mostly behind us now....hope!

one of the gifts I really wanted to buy for each of our sons is a chef's quality deboning knife .... I ordered 2 from Amazon that were shown to arrive before Christmas during Dec 22 - 24 .... since then, the listing has changed to show that if ordered today they would arrive Dec 28 - 29 ..... on my list of items ordered it still shows 22 - 24 but as of right now they do not show as having shipped ..... they could most certainly still get here before Christmas but my apprehension grows .... I'll probably order two other knives in the chef's knife set .... best case, they all arrive in time ....worst case, they will each have one to unwrap on Christmas and another a few days later

A gift for my son was feared lost since Amazon had lost it's tracking stating that if not received by Dec. 23 I could get a refund. I had given up and was thinking another gift plan when the mailman slipped a box in the mailbox this morning. When we opened it it was the feared lost present. Many thanks to the powers of Christmas spirit!
