It all looks nice. I think about getting into it as a hobby, but wouldn’t know how to start.

Buy a woodcraft or Tandy sheath kit for a hunting knife. Better yet, if there is a Tandy leather see if they have a beginner's class. The lady in OKC is great, you use their tools, then figure out if it's for you. Then you buy the tools you need as you need them. Like any other hobby, you can start small and build, or stay small and make do, but still enjoy.

I spent thirty years woodworking in tool sheds. The first I built, 12x14. The second was Amish built, 12x20 or 12x24; I can't remember. I was thrilled. I accumulated my woodworking tools over a fifty year period. My leather working, over the last five or six.

Got out after lunch and pulled the holster out of the clamps. It was MOSTLY glued. One of the clamps had popped off. I set up the sewing machine and stitched er up. I won't say it went perfectly. There were some small errors, but I knew what caused them and I will avoid that problem when I make the holster for the Uberti Birds Head 357.

I took the sewn holster to the sander and cleaned up and burnished the edge, then antiqued the stitching. Nice. Then took the ammo pouch and darkened the antiquing so they matched. I was pleased. I left them both to dry for a couple hours. I'll go back out this afternoon and apply a coat of finish to both and call them done. After they dry overnight, I'll take a pic with the Wrangler in place.

So, I went out and put a coat of finish on both the holster and the pouch and inverted them on stakes clamped to the workbench to dry ovenight. No pics because the wet finish is very glossy and looks nothing like it will look when dry. Actually I think it looks nasty.

When I go out tomorrow, if all looks good, I'll wax and buff, repeat if necessary, then take and post final pics.

Out after breakfast and pulled the holster and pouch off the drying stakes. Only job this morning was to put two coats of British Beeswax on both.

I waxed both, let them dry and buffed them out. Then for good measure, waxed them both again and then buffed them out. I took them in the house where I had a nice western cut belt waiting. I don't have to make one. Waxed and buffed they turned out looking pretty good.

The back of the holster shows my makers mark on the bottom edge and on the belt loop. Yup, doubled up, won't do it again but I just got it and got carried away.

Mark, the Wrangler is in the holster, and it's a TIGHT fit now, but as the leather stretches, it will slide in easier. The lining added to that tight fit. Eh, better an early tight fit than sloppy.

I put the holster on crossdraw, which is how I would wear it when driving the Ranger around the farm, or when on the tractor. Keeps the holster from digging in the seat. Although, it might not. I like the crossdraw. Frees up strongside for the Ammo Pouch since I transfer the firearm to the weak hand and load strong hand, something I learned when speedloading.

That's some fine looking leather work and a great holster/ammo setup. Not many folks can put together that level of craftsmanship.
