Richmond Va. gun buy back tomorrow.......

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Aug 19, 2022 8:22 pm

https://www.nbc12.com/2022/08/15/richmo ... -violence/

200 bucks for a handgun...how many of those way under 200 dollar Heritage Arms 22 revolvers you think will show up? Typical gun shop might give you 75 bucks! Of course it won't have any effect on the crime rate.

PLEASE don't add any political comment as we already know what the deal is.

Crazy stat...
"How Many Guns in America? There are estimated to be over 400 million guns in the United States between police, the military, and American civilians. Over 393 Million (Over 98%) of those guns are in civilian hands, the equivalent of 120 firearms per 100 citizens."

It is kind of like the war on drugs. It seems that we go after the users not the makers. Why? Because, crime pays too well.

That's one way to clean out all the crap guns from the pawn shops. Pawn shop owners should load up a wagon with all the crap and trade them all in.

I'd be more afraid of bringing home a gun that was either stolen, or used in a serious crime, or both.

Or an undercover agent grabbing you both and grinning.

Though in VA it wouldn't be... unless you weren't eligible to buy.

the kids with 3-D printers have been killing it making bs lowers and taking them in. Some kid in Houston made $3,100.

Why would you two want the government to go ofter gun manufacturers instead of those who commit crime with weapons?

I think you misunderstood my statement. Sorry about that. To be clear, gun manufacturers are not the issue. Criminals are! Instead of targeting the criminals (defund the police), a veiled effort is being made at a source. This effort seems twofold. One, it allows money to continue to be made from crimes. Two, it suppresses efforts to oppose crime, 2nd Amendment. How many law abiding citizens are breaking laws using firearms?

As far my comparison with the war on drugs, how many users manufacture or produce their own drugs? If we really wanted to get rid of or reduce drugs in our society, it seems to me that we would target the people who have the resources to produce and distribute drugs, not the user. And, securing our border is a step in that direction. But, I will leave it there.

Hope this clears up my statement some.

So, FORTY, your post. How did the buyback play in the press after it was held?
How was the turnout?
What was the report on stolen guns turned in?
Any real quality guns?
Any (Dumb) felons show up holding guns to turn in for a gift card? (Or did they offer amnesty in the line so they could get more guns off the street?)
Your viewers wanna know?
:P

Well they cut it off after 150 cars had come thru selling back 400+ guns. Was called a big success getting all those guns that kill people off the streets. I have never seen a gun just up and kill somebody. Mostly old revolvers and some older import type cheap bolt action rifles and a few shotguns.
They still had a few shootings that night though!
Maybe a thug buy back would work better!
