I ordered a matte stainless steel Python with a Hogue grip and 4.25 inch barrel last year and was impressed with the fit, finish and handling. Just feels right. .
So when I saw another 4.25 inch Python at the LGS but blued with walnut grips I had to pick it up. It was the same price as my first one so I questioned the reason. I was told it was blemished so the price was reduced $400. . There may be a slightly matte finish on a small area in front of the cylinder but I am not sure. It followed me home. That is an attractive revolver and it feels great in my hand. Will be going back to the range with my snake guns when we get a break in the rain.

I handled one two weeks ago at the LGS from an estate. It was pristine, tight and I liked everything except the price. Went back a couple days later with second thoughts but it was gone. Probably won't see another one like that.

Yes, it is hard to resist a Colt. But, the price makes it easier. Yet, it is the revolver that I am most pleased with. Congratulations!

It is a fine revolver and I am glad I bought mine as well.
I took both to the range today and had to hurry as they were doing a meet on the trap set up today. I liked shooting the blued revolver better than the SS with the Hogue grips. The wood grips are more comfortable and I was able to shoot better. However better does not mean well. I am having to remember to aim with my left eye as my vision in my right is not clear. With more practice I believe I will improve. it is just a bit awkward.
Also the wood grips won't allow the speed loaders to work that function with the Hogue grips. I am going to have to find a set that will work.

Good report Ernie. I can relate because of my experiences with my S&W 686. Not a Python, however very similar. Mine wears Pachmayr grips for the same reason your Colt needs the Hogues.

Congratulations on the new acquisition.

Just came back from Las Vegas, staying at the Westgate. They have a little display in the front lobby, a tribute to Elvis, and in that there is a six inch blued python that Elvis owned. Those older Pythons were hand polished, and the bluing looks like glass. They're really nice looking revolvers, and they shoot well too.
