I encountered a gentleman that was thinning out his collection and I picked up this pair today. They are a Model 18-3 .22 and a Model 15-3 in .38 Spl. Both have been fired but are in mint condition with original grips and boxes. I already own two Model 15's so in a rare exhibit of moderation I offered to sell this one to a buddy at what I paid.
The Model 18 (bottom) is one that I've been looking for so that is staying. Looking forward to taking it out for a little New Years spin.

I am drooling, here. Those are an amazing find, both prime vintage S&W K frames. I very rarely see either in our area, especially an 18. Thanks for sharing.

I'm with NCG partially on the fact I don't ever see model 18's or 48's around. I have run across the occasional model 15.

It was a raw cold day at our outdoor range today but both revolvers put in a fine performance. The Model 18 did very well with standard velocity CCI but did even better with the several brands of high velocity ammo I tried. My friend who gladly took ownership of the Model 15 was shooting little clusters with his hollow base wadcutters over 231 and also with my cast RCBS 148 wadcutters.

The only problem we encountered is that after an hour or so of shivering the targets simply wouldn't hold still.

We have those targets around here, too. Maybe I should knit some sweaters for them.

Shooting in colder weather isn't the most desirable, but remembering back when I shot in a revolver league that didn't take any days off for weather, that trigger pull really does become a surprise break. Mostly because your trigger finger gets so cold you don't really know how much pressure you're applying.

I have an old 4" heavy barrel Model 10-6 that I bought from a retired NYC policeman. It's got those shiny sides of the barrel from being in a leather holster most of it's life. Still locks up tight and while I have only shot it a few times, it might be time to bust it out again.

One of my favorites is my old model 64 I was issued in the academy. I carried this fix sighted, 38 revolver for a number of years and competed in service revolver classes in the PPC league with it. I never felt under gunned. When we shifted to a semi auto, I bought the gun, and still own it.

I don't own any fixed sight revolvers but I know the sight picture was surprisingly precise on the ones I've shot.
