Did a quick clean and went to the range with the new pistol. Shooting free hand 20 ft. Had too much coffee today, had the shakes. Also had a problem with jams. Shooting CCI mini mags and Norma Tac 22. Shot 80 rnds and had 11 jams. Brand made no difference. Cleaned and lubed after 20 rnds but did not solve the problem. spent brass jammed up on top of the shell from the mag. Had to remove the mag to get the spent brass out and remove the live shell with my fingers as it was partially loaded and damaged. All brass, fired and not, had dents. The unfired shells have dents on the opposite side of the damage on the bullet. So the dent would be on top side while the bullet damage is on the bottom of the shell. . Going to do a really good clean and will try again. Any advice is appreciated.
Did not do well shooting today but the second attempt has 3 bullets in one hole. Also had my Magnum Research 10mm that I had installed HI Viz sights on and wanted to see if it made a difference. Almost a 3 inch spread. Not horrible with the vision I have out of my right eye.
On an unrelated note, here is a pic of some unusual pistols at the LGS. a flare gun , 2 pepperboxes, 2 revolvers and 2 single shots.Just in on consignment. I did not ask prices or the calibers .

That sucks Ernie. Id be on the phone to Ruger and show them those pictures. Im betting you will be sending that one back. Which also sucks as nobody likes doing that.

Sorry to hear about the problem, Ernie. Looks like it could be a burr on the extractor or something. Yeah, give Ruger a call.

Did some looking on the appropriate forum and found this problem is not uncommon. Seems the magazines can be rough and need to be worked or asking Ruger to send me two replacements.
So I went back to the LGS and the owner agreed the mags were very rough. I wanted to know if Ruger would have a problem with me taking all the burrs off and returning them with the gun if it didn't fix the problem and he said "probably". So we went through his inventory and found two that were MUCH better and he traded me. That was it, 50 rounds without a hitch. No jams.
Liking this gun again.

Good for you. When in doubt, try a different mag. Fixes a lot of problems.

Glad you got it fixed Ernie. I have a MarkIV 22/45 that I have done a lot of upgrades to. Its a great shooting 22.

Awesome, glad you got it worked out. My neighbor bought a MK IV with the 1911 grip and he had an internal part break. (Can’t remember what part ). Anyway he returned it Ruger and they got it right back to him in perfect working order.

Nice shooter and glad for a simple fix ! You would think Ruger would sends owners a warning of this problem and have correctly finished mags to exchange out.
