My hand guns

Post by bandit1250 » Wed Mar 23, 2016 3:53 pm

I don't have but a few hand guns left. I use to have many but got away from them and more in to lever and bolt action 22's. I had a whole set of Ruger Blackhawks made in '76 bi-centennial year. Had a lot of Smith & Wesson revolvers to. Now they are all gone except these three.
The front one is a S&W 586 with the seldom seen matte blue. Dad gave it to me 16 years ago and I have never fired a round in it yet. On the right is a S&W Airweight 637-2 38+P 5 shot that is my bed post home defense and carry gun. Also carry it with snake loads in it when fishing. On the left is a Ruger Mk II Competition Target "slab side" 22. That one was a Christmas gift to my wife back in the mid '90's. She shoots it well with the Red dot on it not so well with the iron sights.

You kept three good ones. That 586 is purty! Okay so is the slab side. :D
And the air weight is really practical.

You both have some nice handguns, and my favorites would be the 637 .38 special and that older revolver with the wooden grips. What is it Coach?

That's a S&W 19 M&P. .38

It was my Dads service revolver he carried on duty as a Deaputy Sheriff.

He bought it in 1954.

Awesome gun with an even better story. I've got an old .410 shotgun with sentimental value like that for me. I'd never be able to part with it.

Coach, are you certain that's a 19 though and not another model... perhaps a Model 10??? I'm no expert on pre-1970's Smiths, but I was under the impression the S&W 19 came along much later and was the Combat Magnum Model 19 chambered in 357 magnum with a shrouded ejector rod and adjustable sights. Yours looks more like a Combat Masterpiece 38 Special with fixed sights and a non-shrouded ejector rod.

To the OP, that 586 has me drooling

What kind of 1911 is that in the middle? I don't know enough about all the different versions out there, but this one looks like it has all the goodies one could ask for. It's quite handsome to boot!
