While looking about on Bud's Guns I notice in this time of shortages most any Uberti or Cimarron and Taylor's SA 6 shooter is available. However try finding a Ruger or Smith DA revolver. Guess most of market prefers the DA revolvers.

Noticed the same thing last Fri while nosing around. Looking at a couple of Taylor's. Nice guns.

I’ll take a SA over a double any day.

Doesn't surprise me in the least.

I've talked about single actions versus double action revolvers, many times, with the owner and manager or our local gunshop. As far as sales and turn over go, single actions for him have always ranked way behind double actions to the point of him not wanting to invest a lot of inventory in the single actions. He does keep a few on hand, including the Taylor Uberti SAs, but even as beautiful as those are, they're slow to sell. (In fact, I've been one of his best customers for those Taylor SAs. )

But all revolvers lag well behind semi-autos in sales in our local shops, even up here in the boonies.

Very much the same sales pattern with traditional lever guns versus bolt guns/semi-auto rifles.

And this was all way before Covid.

granted, I'm an infinitesimal part of the market but I one of those who prefers a DA

I have both SA and DA. Until lately I preferred shooting DA because of the bite of the SA. Ive kinda changed my mind a little but with the Bear Paw Grips. I like SA over DA always have but the grip factor has always been there. Some of the local shops here seem to have a decent supply of DA and autos.

Ah, I like guns.

I have had a number of Single Actions I really enjoyed.
But, when I was working, teaching, and carrying for my job, we started with double action revolvers... Then transitioned to semiautos. Shooting competition? Double Action Revolvers and Semi Autos. (Because the the type of competitive shooting strengthened my certifications/instructor status if I ever had to go to court. So, my collection reflects the last two plus decades of shooting.

Single Actions are on my bucket list.

My first handgun when I was old enough to legally carry it in the 60s was a single action. Learned all the basics of handgun shooting and handgun hunting with a single action. In fact, the only revolvers I owned and used for almost thirty years after that were single actions. Didn't buy my first DA until the 90s. Nothing against DA revolvers or even semi-autos, but to me, a handgun will always be a single action when whenever I think about a handgun.
