A 336 project to make a "Marauder like" 30 30

I'm taking a youth edition 336 I got and putting on an adult sized semi in-letted walnut stock I bought and have fitted and about finished ..I've done some other things to the gun...had a western happy trigger replacing the stock trigger. It had a ranger point precesion medium loop lever. And a ranger point precision feather loading gate, and an aluminum mag follower...
When I'm done I will have a " Marauder like" 30 30.....no, it won't be an original Marauder...but I won't have 2000 in it either....
The stock is still drying from last coat of Tru oil...used clothes hangers hung on deer antlers as a place to hang it...hey, I don't get much company....it will be ok ... The picture on the floor shows it on gun before finishing stock

A 16 inch 336 carbine is cool.

Wow! What a project. The wood looks nice! If it makes you happy, it is a project worth doing. Looks fun.

Nice project, and like Al said, some nice lumber.
I cut down a like new '74 35 Rem. to 16.5", handy and accurate.
Let us know how she shoots, when you get around to it.

Liking that re-finish you did there. Nice wood grain.

Just because I could do it, I switched butt stocks on a 1988 336 35rem and a 1988 336 Texan 30-30.
Not specifically a "Texan" booster but the price was right.
Here is a picture after the switch.

To do the switch correctly I'd need to switch for stocks. The match exactly but the wood does not quite match end to end.

Thatโ€™s nice wood for sure! The drying โ€œrackโ€ is awesome too! Iโ€™d love to cut down my 336 BL to 16.5โ€ as well, but I donโ€™t think I can legally. If itโ€™s factory, I can go as short as I want (Iโ€™m keeping both eyes open for a Mares Leg in .44 to put a full stock on).
