Ya it looks very odd to me...not sure if I like it or not. Too light for stealth hunting in the bush I think. Maybe good at the beach...

Maybe good at the beach...
The beach???
On my previous 'beach 'hunts' I was usually well armed with good beer & wines, quality local food, an extra lounge chair and suntan lotion!

When I first started my shooting 'career' very young it was of course with my dads guns - one of which was his Mod 152 Mossberg .22 semi auto (a very popular 'early' .22 rifle)
Well unfortunately (and for unknown reason) my dad at some point (long before my time) decided to strip the finish off the stock and to RUB WHITE PAINT into the wood!
Well this was not acceptable and I told my dad I wanted to refinish it back to original which he happily agreed to.
I had a neighbor who was very good with wood and he helped me out with the procedures to strip it, get the paint out and bring it back to original condition.
Well all went well and revealed the beautiful walnut you see and after 40 + years it is still in great shape!

I like maple...that one is a little plain. On a rifle like this (especially with the CCH), it just doesn't look right to my eye.

There is a 24inch barreled modle with the maple also.

It gives the rifle no 'depth' - like a darker walnut does.
It looks cheap.
Reminds me of some of the early Marlin Glenfield rifles that had birchwood stocks.

I'LL admit it is different and not what I'm used to but I would not turn it down,

but I would not turn it down
Neither would I except for say an incredibly good price, or in a trade etc. but nothing I would voluntarily buy for regular price.
