582 Remington and the ugly silver scope

After I pulled the silver scope from the Henry Frontier I thought about getting rid of it because of not having a stainless rifle to put it on. It just works to well not to use it so I put it back on the 582 Remington I hunt squirrels with. So today I will fix the ugly silver scope for good. No I am not going to crush it.

Here is how bad it looks on a blued rifle. After while I will be back with a cure.

Is it going to match the stock?

You know, it actually looks better on that gun with the new camo than it did black.

Well I got it finished this afternoon. I put a color on then worked on the yard until dry then added another color and then back to the yard. I did that until all the base colors were on. It then set for a few hours then the black paint went on last over my stencils I cut from one of my targets. Then the matte clear coat finished it up. A couple days curing in the heat should make a hard finish. I painted the whole rifle except the bolt. I never paint no action parts due to the paint maybe getting down inside as it wears from moving parts. Here it is ready for fall season for squirrel.

I like your work Sir. I have an ugly Ruger American Rimfire that could use something like this.

That came out great. You should be proud of that. I pity the squirrels. No, wait, I don't. I'd rather eat them. lol

Good job!!!
I'd have a hard time with that.
Unless the gun was already in need of a refinishing.
But hey, that looks good.

I guess I got over being afraid to paint a gun when I painted my $1700 Beretta O/U. It doesn't bother me any more because I know if you are going to use it for hunting when you strip the paint back off the bluing and stock still look great unless you fall and gouge some thing up. Put 22 years of fall through winter hunting with a fully painted Model 7 223 Rem. and I stripped the paint off and traded it in on a Sako Hunter the dealer said " I can tell this thing seen very little use." If he only knew.
