Is anyone familiar with, or own one of these here? I just picked one up yesterday, and best I can tell, it was produced in the early 1930s. I love .22 pumps, and couldn't resist. It's not collector grade, but in pretty good shape for an 80+ year old shooter. I'm up to my elbows in kitchen renovations, but as soon as I can get some pictures, I'll post them.

I probably shared this already but the Browning Trombone was one my three finalists when determining which 22 Pump I wanted to purchase. I already had my all steel and wood 22 lever gun (Winchester 9422) and I wanted a all steel and wood 22 Pump as well. Something it appeared they had not made for a good long time. My other finalists was a Winchester which also happened to be the most expensive due to collector demand so I decided not to go this route. The Browning Trombone but this unfortunately a bit harder to find since these were sold mainly outside the US. I decided to go with a Remington 121 Fieldmaster and I was able to find one from 1954 the last year they were manufactured in real good condition.

Anyway from what I understand you have purchased a real classic and a real nice 22 pump gun, Congrats!!!

It's back together...wish I could say the same for the kitchen...

Overall, it's in pretty good shape...the metal/bluing/bore are all pretty nice. The forend is solid, with no cracks. There is a small crack in the butt stock, and the receiver has been drilled and tapped for a peep sight at some point. This doesn't bother me, as I don't buy things to collect (dust)...I shoot everything I have. Besides that, I like peeps, and this is a good one...vintage too. It is an old blued-steel Lyman 56, with click-adjustable wheels for windage and elevation.
The serial numbers all match, and put production in 1932 or 33. I am surprised and impressed with how tight and slick this little rifle feels. I love my Remington 121 (1944), but next to this little Trombone, it feels pretty umm...loose.

Think you guys did well to avoid the Winchester pumps and not just because of the prices. A good bit of fraud is being reported on the Winchester Model 62 pumps. Some sellers are buying up parts, reassembling guns, then selling them as all original at inflated prices. Nothing new, though. The collectible Winchester market has always been rife with fraud. Buyer beware.

Love that peep! I suspect it, alone, would command a hefty price in the vintage parts market. Beautiful rifle. You did, well.
