One of the local shops just shelved some used .22s this week, and I'm curious if anyone here is familiar with these models:
Savage Model 3B (.22LR)
Stevens Marksman (.22LR)
Mossberg Model 640 KS (.22 Mag)

Well, I stopped in for a closer look. The Stevens is pretty cool, but spoken for. The Savage was pretty rough, but the Mossberg is in decent shape. It is actually a Lakefield-Mossberg...a KC "Chuckster". I was going to bring that one home, but got into a discussion with the guy standing beside me at the counter, and mentioned looking for a Browning T-Bolt. There was a Maple version at this store, but it has been sold, and they can't get any more from Browning. The guy beside me said "let me check my stash, and I'll send a couple of things to the store this week for you to look at".
It turns out my timing was good...the gentleman I was speaking with is a Browning sales rep. Now I wait for a phone call to see what he was able to dig up...

Those maple T-bolts have been going for a premium and are hard to get, but I can recommend the standard T-bolts if you are interested in one. They're great shooters.
Honestly, though, for the money, CZ rimfires are the better value if you want a traditional wood and steel bolt gun.

Thanks NCG. For some reason, I have my heart set on a T-Bolt. Although I would prefer all wood and steel, Miroku builds a nice rifle, and modern plastics have come a long way from what they used to be. I'm not too worried about the magazine and trigger housing on these. On my CZ 512s the entire lower (Including the surfaces the bolts slide on) are plastic, and holding up very well. I do have a CZ 455 (17 HMR), and have no complaints there.
While speaking with the rep, there were a few things he mentioned the possibility of getting his hands on...Maple T-Bolt, Maple SA, Octagon SA, T-Bolt target/varmint in .22 WMR, and a stainless/laminated T-bolt. I'm not really big on that last one, but I'm excited to see what he sends, regardless.

The store owner called yesterday afternoon...he received 2 maple T-Bolts from Browning. He is going to wait 'till I stop by and choose one, then put the other on the shelf. Good guy.
