Anyone have any experience with Pedersoli Reproductions? How do you find the quality of what they manufacture? Would you say they are better or worse than Uberti as it appears Pedersoli reproductions cost more? I take it that Lyman is a importer would that be the case and how is their customer service if you know?

Im not sure what you are looking at but there quality is on par with Uberti. Ive never used there customer service so I have no information there. But in the black powder area they make good quality guns.

Anyone know what kind of wood they use and if it has that same type of red finish that Uberti uses?

My experience with Pedersoli has been strictly with their black powder rifles and shotguns, but I would rate the quality with those guns as excellent, every bit the equal of Uberti, if not better. The wood Pedersoli uses is usually walnut, but don't expect to win the wood lottery. Usually very straight grained and plain, but fit is excellent.

Uberti does Sharps. I think Cimarron is one of their importers.

My wife likes the Sharps and thinks it should be our next buy. So I've been looking too. The .45-70 version, not black powder.

That would be the caliber I would go for as well.
However since I recently picked up a few other rifles I think I'm going to have to chew on this one for a little while though. But there certainly is something special about that one though.
I think I need to also take a look at the Winchester Highwall possibilities, but the Sharps is a more attractive rifle in my opinion.

Sharps rifles and black powder go together like peas and carrots Mags. Shot 45-70 and 45-100 for years with black powder aint nothin like the sound of a black powder cartridge gun.

I will at least want to take a look before making a decision. If too much at least I was aware what was availible before deciding.
Thanks again,
Dan

Yes they do and I came VERY close to buying used one a couple years ago (but in beautiful, like new condition) with a custom made case for about the cost of a new Pedersoli. Got sidetracked at the time with other projects and I kind of forgot about it.

Shiloh Sharps built in Big Timber,Montana Long Range Express 45-100 with windage adjustable front and rear MVA sights. I have had it about 20 years and I shot it in competition for about 8 of those 20. It was alot of fun but to be good at it it takes more time than I was willing to continue to put into it.
