New AR10 build

Hey y'all, I am interested in a 308 build. Before they make it illegal, I have ordered an 80% lower and jig. The mechanics don't bother me.

However, I am interested in the rest of the build. If you have any practical experience in this, I would like to hear from you. I have never done this, and would like to hear from you.

I am not looking for a war weapon, but rather an all around self defense/hunting firearm.

Any ideas and thoughts will be appreciated.

Dont know how much you want to spend. But a couple years ago I had to have a Sig Pro Patrol in AR-10. I know right now if I did it again because I think they make a great AR for less money Id be looking at a Windam Weaponry in an AR-10. I have one in a 762X39 and its a great gun for what I paid for it. The Sig is a very nice AR but I dont think Id buy it again after having both.

Thanks, I will look them up. It may be a while. I just wanted to be sure and beat the legislative bs to the punch.

There are at least 2 compatibility standards for the AR10. One is the LR DPMS and then there is most of the others. Figure it out before carving and/or buying.

Many of us are clueless on this topic. Google search "AR10 build" produces a lot of finds. I found this url helpful in gaining a rudimentary understanding of what is involved.

Thanks Mags. I am by nature an avid reader and researcher. I have been looking into this for a couple years. I chose the DPMS version based on the greater number of options.

I've also watched several videos on the milling and assembly. While I'm no machinist, I do know my way around a router.

This project will be done in slow motion. I'll try to document and post updates.
