I like pairing up certain rifles with appropriate handguns that reflect the same period.

My Henry Golden Boy is a natural with the Heritage Rough Rider.



The Winchester 9422 also matches up with a Rough Rider, I now have a 4.75" one for this pair.



The Rossi copy of a Winchester model-62 works with this High Standard Duramatic or could also go with a SA.


CZ 452 bolt-action is a great match for the Ruger MKIII Target. The scope has been lowered since this picture was taken.



Winchester model-490 semi-auto with a Ruger MKII standard. I'm looking for lower scope mounts.

I like that first pair also. I try to get my scopes as low as possible.

The Winchester was in it's original box, under a bed, and the carpet got soaked from a pinhole leak in the garage wall.

The box leached up the water and some of the silver paint in the box stuck to the barrel and tube on both sides.

I've tried alcohol, paint thinner and acetone, even brake fluid and lamp oil but no luck. Next will be paint stripper. It seems to be minor surface and should be fairly easy to deal with once the paint is gone.

This gun has less than 100 rounds through it since new and I'm trying to keep it in good condition as the value of these little masterpieces seems to climb by the day.

The S/N is in the 18,000 range and was very skillfully crafted. My first shot out of the box was a 50-yard bullseye so I think someone at Winchester must have test-fired it.

If all else fails I may beat the bushes to find a local gunsmith that I would trust to restore it.

Have you tried Goof Of? If the paint was water based it will most likely work. Good luck.

Yes, I did. I forgot to mention that. It was actually the first thing I tried.
