Two Marlins at the range

I had a chance to go shoot at the range yesterday. There is usually no one there in the middle of the day on week days. Gets pretty busy on week ends. I took my 1894P 44 Mag. and my 39 TDS 22. Both are 16 1/4" carbines. Both have peep sights. The 44 is ported and hard on your ears. I just shot it at pieces of clay birds and a few pieces of rocks lying around that I set up in front of the sand mound. No paper shooting with the 44. The TDS I did about the same with it. Shot empty shot shells and clay bird pieces and just some plinking around fun. I did put up a target at 25 yds. for the TDS to shoot a tube full off hand.(holds 11) I put a piece of tape in the middle of the paper for a target. I shot all 11 shots and had two wild shots but the rest were not bad for me not shooting off hand since last summer. Eight of the 11 can be covered with a nickel. I was pleased to put 4 in one hole dead center. I need to do more off hand and use the longer barrel rifle for a little better sight radius. Here is the two Marlins I took shooting.

Great shooting, Bandit. I can only dream of doing that well.

1894P= Factory ported. Some what rare model made a year or two. Rarely seen for sale. Compact to carry with the 16 1/4" barrel. I may put this one up for sale because it seldom gets used. Should be in the $1000 range now. I have seen them go for more but have the box and books with them. It is the best shooting 1894 44 Mag. I have owned.

:) Yup, mixing up rocks, clays, shotshells as targets is lots of fun....my kind of day!
And your shredded tape looks great for off hand shooting!
Nice report.

Very nice shooting! I really like your Marlins, then again, I like most every Marlin that I have ever seen........with a JM stamp.
