i have been doing some research on this rifle...might be a nice single shot addition to my 45 Colt line up.

Aint no might about it. The Low walls and High walls are great rifles and some of my favorite. But finding one for sale is the key. But maybe you could give Santa a ring.

That's a Uberti reproduction, but, of course, I'm sure you already know that, RR. Should be a fine gun, in other words, just like your 1860.

Our1885 Low Walls are all Miroku made Winchesters. Also excellent quality guns, though even more expensive and caliber options are very limited, since production is also very limited. Been looking for a used one in a discontinued centerfire caliber, but rarely see them come up for sale in this area. Wish ours had a double set trigger option. That's a feature I'd strongly consider that Uberti Cimarron for target work. May try to find a Cimarron, myself.

Be warned: these classic single shots are very addictive. It's not just the great classic look to them, it's also the way they operate, dropping that lever, loading a round and then closing it up for the shot. Nothing else quite like them. Love my break open single shots and my bolt single shots, but the classic falling block single shot is in another league, altogether. Truly a unique shooting experience.

I like the idea of same caliber for all my firearms. Looks like fun to shoot and Uberti quality is spot on.

$1500 Canadian, but the double triggers and tang would be extra.

Headed out to the range, today. Wasn't planning on bringing one of the Low Walls, but your post gave me the itch for some of that old time falling block magic. Here's our Classic 22 LR with tang peep and globe front. Highly recommend this sight setup if you do get a Low Wall. The way you shoot open sights, you're in for a treat. Will greatly spoil you.



Also wanted to see what the Classic would do with some good target ammo, in this case, Eley Target. Shoots to a different POI than what I was using, but just checking for accuracy, here. Not bad for old eyes.


Of course, you'd be shooting offhand, so here's what you can expect.

Winchester chambers the Low Wall in 17 Winchester Super Mag.
I think that would be my crown jewel rifle.

We have the new Hunter Low Walls from Winchester in 22 LR, 22 mag and 17 HMR and was considering adding that last one in 17 WSM to complete the set, but getting mixed reports on the accuracy of the WSM in the Low Wall. Can't justify spending that money on a very expensive rifle until I get more encouraging reports on the 17 WSM version. Better selection of 17WSM ammo would help, too. Besides, all of these new Hunter Lows Walls we have are pleasingly accurate, but the 22 Mag is actually a standout as 22 mags go, actually the most accurate 22 mag I've ever owned, so in no hurry to go with the 17 WSM.
