Winchester Model 67 Pics

Here is a surprising favorite of mine. I got this a few weeks back in a bundle from a buddy in exchange for some work. This, a Winchester Model 67, caught my eye.

It has been cleaned up a bit and shot a ton the past week. It's accurate and, thanks to the 27" barrel, is incredibly quiet. I have been using CCI Quiet and Aquila Colibri primarily.

It shoots shorts, longs, and long rifle, but I only have a collection 22lr. And fortunately Walmart has been well stocked with Quiets. I have been enjoying them more lately.

Talk about slowing your shots down... It's a single shot bolt action. And once the bolt is locked, you then pull back the striker. Take that first shot with care!

The finish is pretty decent and the stock doesn't show any abuse. Here it is:





This was part of a bundle of "junker" 22 rifles. This and a few others have cleaned up really nicely. A couple of others will need some more intensive intervention (I need to track down a mag tube for a Winchester 190- this rifle will possibly be next for repair).

Love the old single shot rifles. I keep looking over the bargain bin at my LGS. Hoping to find an old jewel to polish up.

Got to be immense fun with those slowed-down shots. I'm hoping to maybe have one of the new Henry single shot rifles some day.

I have a Sears MOD 41-103 19771 which I believe is the same rifle. Mine has a Sears 4x scope on it made by Weaver. I have the shorter barrel so I suspect yours might be more accurate.

The nice thing about this is that if I run out of ammo, I can just poke the target with the barrel. Same with squirrels- I don't actually have to shoot them

The 67 is an old favorite of mine. Have had many over the years. Did a lot of hunting with one as a kid and never, ever, felt at a disadvantage for it being a single shot. If you find one of these at a good price, don't pass it up. You can't wear out a 67.

This is one I still have. Found it at a local shop. It had been drilled and tapped for a non-standard mount, so got it at a very good price. I recognized the mounts for what they were. Finding the scope and mounts was a bit tougher, but got them from a good friend at our range.

The scope is a Lyman 10x target spot. A lot of folks, back in the day, rigged them this way for target work. Kind of a blue collar alternative to the more expensive target rifles at the time. This rig will give our CZ 22 LRs a run for the money as far as group size. Been meaning to do a post on this one, but here's as good a place as any. Thanks for doing a post on this great classic single shot.

That is some scope NCG. I put an old Weaver on mine but haven't zeroed it.

Thanks, Gene. I really need to get out and shoot this old classic. After all, it is a single shot and I do have a thing for single shots. Have often thought about starting a collection of old bolt action single shots, partly out of nostalgia, but also because these very basic single shots are still great shooters. Relatively speaking, would make an affordable type of gun to collect, too.

I would love to find a nice single shot like these. Fun to shoot and doesn't decimate the ammunition supply.
