If I can get away from working on our home this week I am taking some older Remington 22's to the range. Haven't had a chance to shoot them since the house got hit by the car so I hope the weather is decent and I have the time. I will be taking a Remington Model 33 from 1935 with open sights and single shot. The other two are peep sighted and globe front. One is a Model 34 tube fed made in 1933 and the last is a Model 341 from 1936 and also tube fed.

Speaking of Remingtons, we took Bill's 550-1 to the range this week for him to shoot. It was his dad's and he'll never sell it. I did manage to put a Skinner barrel mount peep on it since there's no way to scope it, but it is an improvement over the factory sight. Back when the 22 ammo crunch was at its worst, we used this semi-auto to shoot up some old 22 Shorts we found. It's one of the few semi-autos that could shoot Shorts, Longs and Long Rifles as I'm sure you know. Great old Remington.

How did you acquire all of your rimfire rifles? Good timing at gun shows?

My husband told me that your rifles are some of the best rifles ever made.

Both of us think that they are BEAUTIFUL too!

Some of them came from going to a lot of gun shows and asking around local if any one had older Remington rim fires for sale. I have a few dealers who call me if they get one in they think I may want. I have two that belonged to my Dad. About 5-6 years ago they were every where at great prices. That has sure changed and I couldn't afford to buy much at todays prices. I should sell a bunch but it is a tough thing to do. Here is the favorite 5-teen of mine. Remington 512-X from a gun show. I stripped the stock and it had fantastic wood under the factory red looking finish. Bought this for $225 OTD and sold the factory sights off it on e-bay for $189. Not bad for a $36 dollar rifle. It will shoot with any 22 I own including the big heavy barrel Remington's and my very accurate CZ's.

I like old school and could see me shooting those. Hope you have decent weather.

I hope the weather holds out and stays nice even if I don't have time to shoot so I can get some of the work done here at home. Yes Sir Henry I think you would like shooting these older rifles especially with the aperture sights. The picture of my favorite old 512X seems to get lost when I try to post it from photobucket. I will try it again.

You have some lovely old Remingtons there, bandit.

I had a Model 37 Rangemaster (single shot 'magazine') at one time, and sadly sold it and regretted it ever since. It was an absolute tack driver.
